I just read an article about 45-year-old Kalia Perumal who has a vintage camera collection of over 1500 cameras!  And his lens collection is looking nice too.

Apparently he has a great variety of cameras going back to the 1800’s, and he would like to start his own museum to show them to others.  That would be fun!

You can check out the entire article here. http://www.newstrackindia.com/newsdetails/17143

And here are some links to museums with Vintage Cameras.

The Virtual Camera Museum http://www.virtualcameramuseum.com/

And if you’d like to share your own Vintage Cameras with others you could join the Vintage Camera Museum group at Flickr.

These are just a few and I welcome your comments about other places to see Vintage Cameras of all sorts.

How do you get that vintage look in photography?

I started getting serious with my photography about a year or two ago and after seeing a lot of the photos posted on deviant-art I noticed how a lot of them have this sort of vintage, faded quality but still contain enough color and don't end up turning out yellowy like mine do. Does anyone have any tips as to how to get this effect or what kind of photo editing program I might need?

If you want them to look faded but still have color, just desaturate the image. This is extremely easy to do in Picasa (download it for free from Google). You can also add film grain in Picasa, and that will definitely give you the old feel that you're looking for.

This camera is in pristine shape

I'm not sure, but on eBay, you can search for completed items as well. The closing auction prices should give you a sense of market value.

If I buy a collector camera through the internet, what are the risks involved compared to buying it at a local camera fair or shop?

research, research, research, read everything Carefully, read the small print, and read the entire add and most important know your dealing with if they don't have a street address back off and get everything in writing and you might get some else to read it in case you missed something. i bought off of eBay and it had a pic and a description on top and ended up getting something i didn't want so beware and find someone who deals in the product your buying you might get a pink elephant.
